Former Charlton defender nearly killed off Blackburn play-off hopes – but Rovers still in hunt ahead of final day at Millwall
Hayden Muller’s late goal kept Blackburn Rovers’s Championship play-off hopes alive and set up a humdinger of a final day at Millwall on Monday.
Former Charlton Athletic defender Tom Lockyer had put Luton Town ahead in yesterday’s fixture.
If Jon Dahl Tomasson’s side had lost then it would have effectively killed off their top-six aspirations as they would have needed to win by seven goals at The Den to overhaul their opponents in the table and need other results to go in their favour.
But Muller scored in the 86th minute to salvage a share of the spoils.
Ideal scenario for #Millwall was a Blackburn defeat, meaning they headed to The Den without any realistic chance of the play-offs.
1-1 draw v Luton means they are still in the mix.

“When you’re 1-0 down against a very good side, there’s a bit of relief with the draw but if you look at the game then you’d say the draw is the very least we deserved,” said Tomasson.
“We were creating opportunities, we just lacked the scoring ability. It was the same story in the second half, wasn’t it?
“Seeing the team fight until the end made me proud and the fans were behind the team as well. That togetherness is important.
“There’s one final left and who’d have imagined we’d be playing for a play-off spot with the last game to go? It’s quite incredible and all the credit to the lads for that.”
It means that there are five teams battling it out for the final two play-off places with a strong possibility that Millwall-Blackburn – considering the high stakes – will be selected for Sky Sports coverage.
