Hamlet flawless on spot kicks to progress in cup

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Dulwich Hamlet beat Greenwich Borough 5-4 on penalties to secure their passage in the London Senior Cup on Tuesday night.

The derby finished 2-2 after normal time with Iffy Allen and Ben May, pictured above, on target for the National League South outfit.

Borough twice levelled from the penalty spot. Teo Kurtaran restored parity just before the break when keeper Preston Edwards was penalised for a foul and then Reece Deakin kept his nerve in the 90th minute to force a shootout.

May, Ashley Carew, Anthony Cook, Dipo Akinyemi and Gavin Tomlin all netted for Gavin Rose’s side.

Dulwich are in FA Trophy action at Welling United tomorrow.
Tooting & Mitcham United also needed a penalty decider in their tie against Corinthian Casuals.

Isaiah Jones put the Terrors 1-0 ahead after nine minutes but it needed Danny Bassett to make it 2-2 in a frantic finale.

Bassett then scored the decisive spot-kick.

Tooting are at home to second-placed Bracknell in the Isthmian League South Central Division tomorrow.

The Terrors are five points adrift of a play-off spot and have played one game more than most of the sides above them.
