“He’d have had his mouth open sliding across the floor if that was expensive champagne” – Millwall manager reacts to former assistant’s dressing room celebration

Gary Rowett has spoken about his delight at Callum Davidson – his former assistant at Millwall – winning double silverware in Scotland.

The St Johnstone manager was captured on video diving topless across a soaked dressing room floor after his side’s Scottish Cup final victory last weekend.

Davidson had already guided the Saints to the Scottish League Cup earlier in the campaign.

Asked about the footage of Davidson – which went viral after being posted by striker Stevie May – Lions boss Rowett said: “At the end of the day he is part of the group and as manager he is not any more special than anyone else in terms of joining in the celebrations. If that was expensive champagne, he would have had his mouth open as he slid across the floor!

“It’s just the raw emotion of a fabulous season. He has had an unbelievable first season.

“At one point I was chatting to Cal around Christmas time and they were trying to avoid getting dragged into the bottom position and the next thing he has won two cup finals, qualify for Europe and they got to fifth in the table.”
