Hercules Wimbledon round-up: Third-place finish at latest Lily B fixture

Hercules Wimbledon’s junior athletes continued their promising start to the Lily B League, finishing third in the second fixture of this year’s competition, writes George Mallett.

This girls-only league has been a successful breeding ground for junior international athletes in the past.

South London Harriers led the way on 270 points to beat Epsom & Ewell (255) with Hercules not far behind on 248. Notable performances included a win in the U15 100m B-race where Nyah Nicholson-Salako’s 13.6 was only beaten by one athlete in the A race.

Isabella Harrison finished second in the U13s 200mA race in 29.8 and Florence Foster was a clear winner of the B race in 30.1. Mabel-Rose Scales then added to the flurry thanks to an impressive 26.9 to take the U17s A race.

Hercules enjoyed second in the U15s 300m A race through Allegra Adams in 46.4 with Charlotte Gurney taking maximum points by winning the B race in 46.7.

Neva Jansen and Visne Bariman ensured an U15s hammer double in the A and B throws respectively.

Jansen came back to finish second in the discus A string, an event where Charlotte Gurney ensured a Hercules win in the B competition.

Florence Foster and Soraya Stevens ensured an U13s A and B double In the long jump with Ariana Shala winning the U17 triple jump. Nicholson-Salako took her second event win of the day in the U15s long jump.

Scales and Natalie Burns won the A and B high jump competitions.

Isabella Harrison and Halili Waikwa won their A and B 800m in the U13s and Ava McAndie won the U15s A race over the same distance.

Marie Rudd finished third in the U15s 1,500m A race. Elizabeth Thompson only narrowly behind and a clear winner of the B race.

The U17 girls repeated the success over that distance with Charlotte Conway third in the A race and Lara Delport winning the B race.
