Injury boost for Millwall boss Gary Rowett as duo resume training
Gary Rowett has provided some good news on the injury front for Millwall – with Shaun Hutchinson and Isaac Olaofe both taking part in training today.
Centre-back Hutchinson has been out since August with a thigh injury.
Striker Olaofe has agreed a loan deal with League Two side Sutton United. He suffered tendon damage to his hip flexor during the club’s pre-season training camp in Scotland.
“Hutch and Tanto trained this morning and both got through fine,” said Rowett. “Tanto will stay with us this week and train and then go to Sutton to start his loan period.
“With Hutch we want to get him fit and available as quick as we can but he might need a little more training than that.
“With Danny McNamara we are looking at next Monday [for him to resume training]. I would imagine by the time we get through to the next international break that hopefully for the first time we will have a fully fit squad to choose from.”
But Millwall will be without Benik Afobe (knee) and George Evans (groin) for Wednesday’s match at Swansea City.
Evans has been for a scan.
“It is not too serious and we think that will be 7-10 days out of training,” said Rowett. “That will probably rule him out for Swansea and the weekend as well. It’s just one of those little bits of bad luck we keep having with selection.
“Benik took a bang to his knee, it was swollen and there was a bit of tenderness. He has been advised to rest a couple of weeks and then go again with it. A couple of weeks is this Thursday. When you have seen a specialist then caution needs to be exercised and you follow their advice. The next two games will probably come a little too quick and you’re probably looking at the Leicester match.”
