Jason Pearce wants quick resolution to Charlton boss job – as ex-Sheffield Wednesday boss declines to comment on vacancy
Jason Pearce was unable to provide any update on Charlton Athletic’s managerial search after masterminding a 2-1 victory over Fleetwood Town today.
The Addicks’ former captain and centre-back was placed in interim charge after Sunday’s sacking of Dean Holden.
One of Pearce’s big calls was to switch to a back four for the visit of the Cod Army.
Alfie May’s brace, the winner coming from the penalty spot, ensured that Charlton banked maximum points for the first time since an opening day victory over Leyton Orient in SE7.
Addicks technical director Andy Scott and chairman Jim Rodwell are interviewing boss candidates – including the likes of Michael Appleton, Northampton’s Jon Brady and Stockport’s Dave Challinor.
Former Sheffield Wednesday boss Darren Moore declined to comment to the South London Press on whether he was interested or had been spoken to about the vacancy.
Asked by our paper if Pearce was being kept abreast of the situation, he said: “No, I haven’t really been told anything.
“They are actively looking for a new manager. The quicker that gets sorted, the better for the football club – because we know where we’re going and the players have that clarity.
“As far as I’m concerned I’m just going to keep doing my all and trying to keep a positive attitude with the boys and the staff.
“The staff have been fantastic. Monday was a little bit mopey, I’d say, with everything that is going on. But after Monday the boys and staff have been excellent. It just helps, getting a victory, going into next week.”
