Mick McCarthy has confirmed he will step down as Ipswich Town boss – just days before his old club Millwall head to Portman Road looking to set a new club record.
The Lions have won six league matches on the road and will create a new best run if they can take all three points on Easter Monday.
McCarthy, the longest-serving Championship boss, has now publicly confirmed he will be off at the end of the season.
“I’m sat here with eight games to go and I still want to finish as high as we possibly can. How this will affect us, only time will tell.
“I went to speak to Marcus [Evans, Ipswich owner] and after having that chat we both decided it was probably best to go our separate ways.”
