Millwall boss answers question – does he expect Lions to finish in Championship top six?

Neil Harris says Millwall need to start thinking about the play-offs after the club made it 11 Championship games without defeat.

 

George Saville’s strike after 51 seconds was enough to keep the Lions six points off the top-six and earn them their ninth home league victory of the campaign.

 

Millwall moved up to ninth and could reduce the gap to sixth-placed Middlesbrough with victory against Barnsley at Oakwell next week in the early kick-off.

 

“We are just enjoying the challenge and the only reason I am talking about the play-offs now is because the players have earnt the right after today,” said Harris.

 

“I just talked about it [the play-offs] for the first time this season. Just as a challenge to the players as much as anything. This group of players will not step off.”

 

Despite their incredible run of form in recent months, Harris does not expect Millwall to finish in the top-six this season.

 

“Do I expect us to get there? No, I don’t expect us to get there. There is still a long way to go. We have got to make up six points in nine games.

 

“What I do know is, that no club wants to face Millwall home or away. We have got to enjoy that. You don’t get many times in your career where you get seasons where you are so overachieving you can just enjoy it.

 

“If we get beat next week, we get beat. Win the week after, win the week after.”
