Millwall boss Gary Rowett nominated for second time this season in Manager of the Month award
Gary Rowett has been nominated for the Championship Manager of the Month award for April.
The Lions took 12 points from seven matches and netted 14 goals in that month, their best scoring run of the campaign.
Steve Cooper (Forest), Carlos Corberan (Huddersfield) and Russell Martin (Swansea) have also been nominated. The winner is announced tomorrow.
Rowett was also shortlisted for the honour in February.
THE CONTENDERS
Steve Cooper (Nottingham Forest)
In the ever-competitive Championship, consistency is priceless, so Forest’s April record of seven wins from eight games with a 19-3 goal differential in their hunt for automatic promotion says everything about the mindset Cooper has created.
Carlos Corberan (Huddersfield Town)
April began with Huddersfield nervously looking at their promotion rivals’ games in hand. Corberan stuck to his style and inspired a haul of 16 points from six unbeaten games as the Terriers secured a play-off berth with apparent ease.
Russell Martin (Swansea City)
Connoisseurs of the beautiful game needed only to watch Swansea, whose eight matches produced 13 points and a whopping 32 goals – 17 of them scored by the Swans via the possession game that Martin preaches to his players.
Gary Rowett (Millwall)
While others were falling away from the play-off picture, Rowett’s Millwall impressively maintained their focus. In earning 12 points from seven games, they found the net 14 times – the Lions’ best goalscoring run of the season.
