Millwall boss Harris: Chris Hughton will know exactly what lies in store for his Brighton side in FA Cup

Millwall manager Neil Harris reckons Chris Hughton will know exactly the test his Premier League squad of multi-millionaires will face at The Den on Sunday.

The Seagulls boss was at Birmingham in midweek to scout the South London outfit ahead of this weekend’s FA Cup quarter-final.

Millwall ended a four-game losing streak in the Championship with Ben Thompson scoring both of their goals in a 2-0 success.

But the matchwinner is cup-tied for Sunday after playing in a previous round for Portsmouth. The same applies to Ben Marshall and Fred Onyedinma. Top-scorer Lee Gregory (calf) is a doubt.

Asked what Hughton would have made of Millwall’s performance, Harris said: “If he had any doubts that we weren’t a team that were going to dig in and have a right go on Sunday, then he’d have seen that tonight.

“But he’ll have known that, Chris. Is it a free game for us? Possibly, because a Premier League team should come and beat us. Their fanbase will look at it as what an opportunity – we’ve achieved already by getting to the quarter-final.

“Chris will know his boys are in for a tough weekend. I haven’t paid too much attention to them, we’ll do that now going into the weekend. I’ve had quite a lot else to look at, regarding my own players [after the side’s dip in form]. Brighton have got some good players and certainly have a top manager.

“We’ve got players missing. I’ll be lucky if I’ve got 18 players for the weekend. So the selection won’t really be that difficult.”
