Millwall boss hoping they are not finished in transfer window – as he outlines plan with attacking duo

Millwall manager Gary Rowett still wants to add one more player to his squad before the transfer window closes.

The Lions have made seven signings with German striker Andreas Voglsammer the latest incoming from Union Berlin last week.

Asked how much business Millwall could do before the cut-off at the end of this month, Rowett told the South London Press: “We’re still hoping to add to the squad.

“We’ve got a few areas where we’ve probably got a slight lack of balance, in terms of numbers, but other than that we’re pretty much okay.

“I think we’d like to do at least another player. But I’m quite happy with where we are at in terms of everybody in the squad – I’ve got no plans for anyone to go out. The squad looks quite strong.

“Most teams would struggle with three strikers unavailable. Most would run with four, five or six strikers as a maximum. It just leaves us a little bit short. But when everyone is fit, or the vast majority are fit, it would be nice to add one more. We’re working hard to see if we can get that right one.”

Rowett has also spelled out that attackers Tyler Burey and Isaac Olaofe are firmly part of his first-team plans.

“Tyler showed his best attributes on Saturday – that extra bit of quality to run at people. And then Tanto shows in the late stages of the game he can create chances with his pace, he ended up one v one and took a slightly heavy touch. But he gets into those areas with his pace and running athleticism. At the moment there are no plans for either of those two to imminently go out on loan.

“Tyler has certainly shown he can really help the team with something different. The plan with Tanto was always to see what happens until January and then re-assess. That’s the likely scenario for both of those players. I’m never going to say never, just in case.”
