Millwall chief executive Kavanagh on search for new head of recruitment
Millwall chief executive Steve Kavanagh says there is no rush to bring in a new head of recruitment.
Alex Aldridge left at the weekend to take up the role at Championship rivals Stoke City.
The 27-year-old had headed up the department for the Lions since 2017 – at the time making him the youngest in that role in the division.
Aldridge gained a Master of Sport Directorship at The Manchester Metropolitan University and initially joined Millwall’s recruitment team in July 2017.
“Alex has been with the club from a young age – we took him through university,” said Kavanagh. “He has been a very valued employee. We don’t want to see anyone go and we wish him well.
“We are currently receiving applications and at the right moment we will make the right appointment.
“There is no mad rush because we have got plenty of people around and we know who is on our list of targets. Our strategy is set out and that isn’t going to change during this window.
“We’ve got a team of people who worked with Alex and they are all still in place. Then there is myself, Gary [Rowett] and Gary’s team.”
