Millwall goalkeeper Archer has watching brief – but is back in group after international break

Jordan Archer had a watching brief on Saturday as Millwall drew 1-1 with Leeds United.

The goalkeeper was dropped from the matchday 18 for the 2-1 defeat to Swansea City before the international break.

Lions manager Neil Harris said at the time: “I chose not to put him in the starting 11 and I just alluded there [earlier in the press conference] that the mentality of the group is not good enough at the moment.”

Archer sat next to injured centre-back Shaun Hutchinson at The Den at the weekend.

“Jordan went away on international duty and had a great 10 days with Scotland,” said Harris. “He has come back recharged and refreshed. I had a brilliant chat with him on Thursday before the [Leeds] game.

“Jordan just trained as normal and is back in the group after the international break.

“I explained to him I wouldn’t be including him at the weekend, purely because I’m really happy with Ben Amos’ performance and David Martin’s input in the changing room.

“Jordan understands that and trained brilliantly. He is focused on getting his place back in the squad and team. I’m looking forward to seeing Jordan produce those performances in training and games when his opportunity comes.”
