Millwall midfielder an injury doubt for Saturday evening clash with Swansea City

Ryan Tunnicliffe is facing a race to be fit for Millwall’s Saturday teatime kick-off against Swansea City.

The former Fulham and Manchester United man was not involved in Wednesday night’s EFL Cup win over Plymouth Argyle.

“Tunni really is touch and go for the weekend,” said Millwall manager Neil Harris. “He has got some damage to his toe. He got trodden on on Sunday and wasn’t able to get a boot on last night.

“We’ll have to see how he progresses into the weekend. We’ll just judge that hour by hour.”

Jem Karacan played 62 minutes in midweek, his first action since signing a short-term deal. He was released by Bolton in the summer.

Harris said: “It was a really good workout for Jem, an ideal game for him to go in and have an hour.

“You’re always concerned when a player has only been training for a couple of weeks and had 45 minutes un U23 games.

“He was beginning to look a little bit leggy in the second half. It was a good game because we had the ball a lot and there were fewer recovery runs. You could see his qualities in spells and his experience and understanding of the game.

“I’m really pleased with his impact. He is a great lad who has added some leadership quality in the dressing room and depth to our squad.”
