Millwall set to be without on-loan Derby man for Championship finale

Mason Bennett looks unlikely to feature in Millwall’s final Championship game of the season.

The on-loan Derby attacker pulled up early on in today’s 4-3 loss at QPR which ended the Lions’ hopes of finishing in the play-offs.

Bennett’s goal in Tuesday’s 1-0 victory over Blackburn had ensured Millwall still had the chance of a top-six finish going into this weekend’s derby.

The Lions host Huddersfield Town on Wednesday as they bring the curtain down on the 2019-20 campaign.

“I think he’s felt his hamstring, I’m not sure if it has completely pulled,” said Millwall manager Gary Rowett.

“From my point of view it is incredibly disappointing because he has shown in the games he’s played that he’s been a real attacking threat for us.

“He’s got two goals in the three games prior to this. But young Mase’s challenge is always to get a run of games and stay fit. Unfortunately that injury has curtailed [him].”
