Millwall striker set to be fit for Blackburn clash – as injured duo also closing in on first-team return
Millwall striker Aidomo Emakhu is set to be available for tomorrow night’s home game against Blackburn Rovers – with Kevin Nisbet and Shaun Hutchinson both having a chance to return for Saturday’s match at Watford.
Young Irish striker Emakhu was bright in the weekend’s 1-1 draw with Preston North End but had to be subbed off in the second half.
Lions caretaker boss Adam Barrett told the South London Press that there were no major issues with the former Shamrock Rovers frontman.
“He cramped up,” said Barrett. “It was the lad’s first start. He put a real shift in for the team and the intensity in Championship football goes up a notch, which he isn’t used to and he’s not had loads of minutes.
“It’s just cramp and I’m fully expecting Aido to be okay. I’ve got no major concerns with that at all.
“We’ve got a couple of lads that will hopefully be coming back into training at the end of the week but nothing significant which is going to affect tomorrow night.
“Kevin Nisbet and Shaun Hutchinson are progressing nicely. They have still got some bits to tick off at the beginning of this week before they can join the group.
“The likes of Ryan Leonard and Duncan Watmore are going to be a little bit longer. We’ll still be missing them for a couple more weeks, at least.
“Hopefully there is some positive news with Kevin and Shaun. They are not too far away from being back involved with the group.”
