Millwall’s star attacker Jed Wallace undergoing medical at West Bromwich Albion
Millwall talisman Jed Wallace is on the verge of signing from West Bromwich Albion.
The 28-year-old is undergoing a medical ahead of completing a move to the Midlands club.
Wallace is out of contract at the end of this month and the Lions had offered him a significant new deal in a bid to extend his stay in South London.
Burnley had also been linked with a move for the former Portsmouth youngster, who had attracted serious interest from Nottingham Forest in the January transfer window.
Forest had a couple of official bids rejected by the Lions and never met their valuation of their star attacker.
Instead Wallace allowed his contract to run down, with his last appearance coming at AFC Bournemouth on the final day of the 2021-22 campaign. He walked across to applaud the travelling Millwall fans and admitted to the South London Press afterwards that he was trying to hold his emotions together.
Wallace had three spells with the Lions, two of those loans, before signing permanently after the club won promotion to the Championship in July 2017.
He scored 42 goals in 259 appearances for Millwall and also contributed 48 assists.
Wallace is set to become West Brom’s third signing of the window. They have converted Jayson Molumby’s loan into a permanent deal as well as adding John Swift, who is also a free agent next month, from Brighton and Reading respectively.
