Nigel Adkins gives his verdict on Charlton securing friendly against Reading
Nigel Adkins reckons that Charlton Athletic have got a tough pre-season programme in place that will serve as the ideal build up to the new League One campaign.
The Addicks confirmed that they will head to Reading on July 24.
And Charlton have also lined up other fixtures, which should be confirmed soon.
Adkins had a spell managing Reading. Asked about the tune-up at the Madejski Stadium, he told the South London Press: “Really pleased. It is a shame we can’t get fans in again, but that is the covid situation that we’ve got.
“It’s a tough game and a tough week, leading into the season. We’ve got good games lined up which are going to be really challenging for us. Teams who are in levels above us, so we’re going to be really pushed.
“We’re not looking at the results in pre-season games, we’re looking to arrive at the start of the season as fit as we can be – with everyone available for selection, as best as they can be – along with putting in place the principles of play.”
