Non-league football round-up: Dulwich Hamlet one win away from FA Cup first round as Bromley boss delighted at midweek point

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Dulwich Hamlet are just one match away from the first round of the FA Cup after a penalty shootout win at Christchurch on Tuesday.

There was plenty of late drama at Hurn Bridge with Quade Taylor sent off in the 85th minute.

But 10-man Hamlet then went ahead through Deon Moore’s goal only for their hosts, who play in the Wessex Football League, to level the contest.

Dulwich keeper Charlie Grainger made two spot-kick saves before Sanchez Ming converted as Gavin Rose’s side emerged 3-1 victors.

Hamlet were due to find out their fourth qualifying round opponents when the cup draw took place yesterday.

They banked £36,750 from their run to the first round proper in the 2019-20 season – a crowd of 3,336 in attendance as they lost 4-1 to League Two Carlisle United in November.

Bromley drew 0-0 at Hartlepool on Tuesday night.

The Ravens absorbed heavy pressure but had a chance late on to take all the points in the National League encounter, but Luke Coulson could not beat Pools keeper Ben Killip.

“It was a nine-hour trip and we just didn’t want to go home without anything – the boys were resolute,” said Bromley boss Neil Smith.

“We were under the cosh at times, but they never gave up. They [Hartlepool] had won all their games. We knew what we were in for, but we stuck together.”

Bromley’s home game against Altrincham tomorrow is off after their opponents reported positive Covid-19 tests in their squad.

Rob Brown and Jamie Yila scored in the first half for Fisher as they beat Erith & Belvedere 2-0 in the SCEFL Premier Division.

Tooting & Mitcham United are at home to Romford tomorrow in the FA Trophy second qualifying round.

The Terrors suffered a second Isthmian League South Central Division defeat of the new campaign when they lost 1-0 at home to Waltham Abbey last weekend.
