‘Putting the ball in the back of the net is the problem’ – Pundit gives verdict after Palace’s stalemate against Brentford

Jermaine Jenas reckoned Crystal Palace edged their 0-0 draw against Brentford – but says hitting the back of the net is still the problem.
The Eagles are yet to score a goal this season after their 3-0 defeat against Chelsea last week was followed up by a goalless draw against Brentford.
Palace had a couple of good opportunities against the Bees, Conor Gallagher hit the crossbar from six yards out, and Christian Benteke sent his header over the bar from inside the box.

Jenas, a pundit on Match Of The Day, said: “As 0-0’s go, the intensity of this game was really good from both teams.

“Palace probably just about edged it as the better side, and the side that were trying to win the game.
“My fear for them was with all that endeavour, pressure and intensity, the same kind of problems for them – putting the ball in the back of the net.
“Conor Gallagher was everywhere in the first half – he’s making runs forward, his challenging and tenacity, he set the tone for the game.”

How does Jermaine Jenas manage to land prime jobs?If ever there was a an EXTREMELY average professional footballer, he is the epitome of same. He mentions Gallagher hitting ‘the woodwork’ and Benteke’ heading over’ without mention Brentford’s Mbemo ‘hitting the bar’ and Ivan Toney heading ‘just over’. Bias? Of course. Brentford have only just joined the snobby elite. Breath of fresh air if you ask me.
