Rianna Dean scores hat-trick against old club as Millwall Lionesses torn apart by Tottenham

Rianna Dean’s hat-trick saw Tottenham Hotspur Ladies go top of the FA Women’s Championship table with a comprehensive 8-0 win over her former club Millwall Lionesses.

Dean’s first, alongside strikes from Angela Addison, Sarah Wiltshire and Ashleigh Neville ensured that the hosts went into half-time 4-0 up.

And the goals continued to flow in the second half Dean converting two penalties and a strike each from substitute Bianca Baptiste and Addison.

The result saw Spurs make it five wins from five and condemn the visitors to their fourth defeat of the season.

After the scrappy opening exchanges, Spurs began to assert themselves and took the lead just after 20 minutes when Addison looped a header over the onrushing Grace Taylor after a clever ball from Jessica Naz.

Eight minutes later Spurs doubled their lead when Dean found the corner of the net at the second time of asking from Neville’s cross.

On the half-hour mark, Sarah Wiltshire tapped home after Taylor spilled Neville’s long-range cross-shot. The left-back then got on the scoresheet herself by rising highest to meet Megan Wynne’s cross.

The hosts were just as ruthless after the break, and five minutes in Dean had her second when she tucked away a penalty after being fouled by Lia Cataldo.

Substitute Baptiste added a sixth after finishing on the half-volley, before Dean added her third from the spot, who then turned provider for Addison for her second at the near post to round off the win.

Millwall captain Georgina Giddings said: “It is disappointing, eight goals is unbelievable. We have spoken between ourselves, I said last week that we need to learn from our mistakes and this week it doesn’t seem like we’ve learnt from anything.

“We need to do a bit of work. It isn’t through lack of talent that we have been beaten 8-0, we didn’t put on a good enough performance for ourselves and we didn’t show what Millwall is about.

“The resilience just wasn’t there.”
