Roy Hodgson makes big claim after Crystal Palace’s stalemate with Cardiff City

Roy Hodgson felt his Crystal Palace side would have comfortably seen off Cardiff City had they scored the first goal in today’s 0-0 draw.
The Eagles missed several excellent opportunities to breach the Bluebirds.
“We started the game so well but lost our way a bit,” said the 71-year-old. “We were really asking some questions of them and it was looking good – we hit the bar in the first minute.

“We got back on the horse at the start of the second half. We really just needed a goal, something to work for us, perhaps it might have been a free-kick. Then we would have been comfortable and maybe would have scored a second. We dealt with their system well, we produced the attacking play I wanted us to produce.
“There were only two occasions when I felt we would score, when Connor [Wickham] had the shot soon after he came on and when Wilfried [Zaha] went through. The other chances were half ones when the ball is bouncing around.”
