Roy Hodgson: Ref Madley made right call not to send off Crystal Palace skipper Milivojevic
BY SAM SMITH
Roy Hodgson agreed with referee Andy Madley’s decision not to send off Crystal Palace captain Luka Milivojevic against Southampton.
The Serbia international had been booked for an accumulation of fouls when he appeared to shout in the face of Madley.
Wilfried Zaha was dismissed in the same fixture last season for a similar show of dissent.
The 72-year-old Eagles boss felt Sofiane Boufal had not been touched by Milivojevic in the incident which had led to the yellow card.
Hodgson said: “No, I didn’t think he should have been sent off. I was shouting at the referee as well!
“Wilf’s one was quite different last year. In that situation, and having been in football for a long time, I would be surprised if anyone didn’t react like that when they didn’t touch the player.”
