Steve Morison: There is no fear factor at The Den without Millwall supporters

Steve Morison is in no doubt that Millwall have lost some of the edge they enjoyed at The Den due to the absence of supporters.

Football fans are unable to attend fixtures due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Lions have taken two points from a possible nine since the Championship season resumed and dropped behind the other play-off chasers.

Ex-Millwall striker Morison, a pundit for Sky Sports for last night’s 1-1 draw against Swansea City in SE16, was asked before the match about the impact on opposition players. He said: “There’s no fear – there’s nothing to fear. There is no-one in their face when they are taking a throw in and giving you a bit of stick when you get off the coach.

“You look at the pitch and surroundings, it’s a really nice place to go and play your football. For a lot of players it’s going to be an easy ride.

“I don’t know many 18-year-olds who have rocked up, scored a hat-trick at The Den and enjoyed themselves that much [Derby’s Louie Sibley scored three times in the first fixture back].

“I would’ve really struggled [if he was still playing]. I liked that bit of needle and stick. If I wasn’t having a good game, I’d react to that. If I was having a good game, I’d react to that. If they gave stick to the opposition, I’d react to that.”
