Tennis: Catford Wanderers ladies lose at Sundridge Park

Catford Wanderers ladies first team of Julia Garling, Stephanie James, Kathy Aldridge and Donna Gabriel lost 4-0 to Sundridge Park in a match that was closer than the scoreline suggested.

There was better news for the ladies’ 60s and-over team. They made their debut with a home draw against Bromley Sports Club in the North Kent League.

Julie Taylor and Terri Borg defeated Wendy Kean and Sue Robinson 6-0 6-3 but lost to Tracey Badcock and Clare Grosampson 3-6 3-6.

There was a similar result for Wanderers’ second pairing of Annette Medder and Christine Court. After beating Kean and Robinson 6-1, 6-3 they were beaten 2-6, 6-7 by Badcock and Grosampson despite some close exchanges in their 7-6 tie-break loss.
