Will Nightingale on AFC Wimbledon’s prospects for the 2019-20 League One campaign
AFC Wimbledon are one of the betting favourites to struggle next season – but Will Nightingale is confident that better times lie ahead for the South London club.
The Dons produced a grandstand finish to the 2018-19 campaign to climb out of the League One bottom four.
But only Gillingham and Accrington – both 5/2 – are shorter odds to drop into League Two.
Wimbledon are priced at 11/4 with Wycombe at 10/3.
Nightingale said: “We’ve lost a few players this summer and will end up bringing in a few.
“It will be a fresh mix, which is probably something that was needed.
“I don’t like to set out specifics and say something which is unrealistic. I want us to go out and be the best we can be.
“There are a lot of good teams in League One. If everyone works to be the best they can be then that’s all they can do really.
“The way I see it is that I want to achieve a lot more than we did last season.
“Don’t get me wrong, I’m massively proud of our FA Cup run. It was unbelievable, like our turnaround in the league.
“But I don’t want us to put ourselves in that bad position to have to pull off those comebacks.”
