Wycombe boss left disappointed by disallowed goal against Millwall

Wycombe Wanderers boss Gareth Ainsworth bemoaned the decision to disallow a second goal for his side in Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat to Millwall.

The Lions fought back after falling behind inside the opening 10 minutes, with Bartosz Bialkowski’s slack footwork gifting Scott Kashket the opening goal. The Lions were level three minutes after the break through a Jed Wallace penalty.

Just minutes later, Joe Jacobson scored direct from a corner before the officials disallowed it for a foul on Bialkowski. But Ainsworth was left bemused by the officials’ decision to chalk the goal off. Ryan Leonard struck the winning goal for Millwall shortly after Jacobson’s effort was ruled out.

“We deserved more out of today,” said Wanderers boss Ainsworth. “If anybody sees that corner that we scored from today, then please, please tell me what is wrong with that. The referee’s given a foul, the fourth official said there was a foul on the keeper, but there’s absolutely nothing [there].

“For the life of me, and I’m trying to look at it with non rose-tinted glasses, I can’t see any foul at all. Joe Jacobson has been known to score corners directly, I don’t know. I really hope people look at this replay and try to find what the referee’s given. To me that’s a perfect goal, but we’re just not getting those decisions at the moment.

“We are Wycombe and we’re in the Championship. It’s just not going for us at the moment, but I’m sure it’ll turn. Millwall have had to battle really hard for their result today, and that’s what you’ve got to do to beat Wycombe.”

Millwall manager Gary Rowett added: “I think the linesman said to us he felt there was a pull on Bart as the ball came in. I haven’t seen it again, so I couldn’t give you a comment on whether I think it was a goal or not.”
