Neil Harris reckoned Ben Marshall’s stunning goal in Saturday’s 2-0 win at Barnsley came at a crucial period of the Championship contest.

The on-loan Wolves winger curled a sublime finish into the top corner of the net in the 63rd minute to double the Lions advantage. They went on to secure a sixth straight away league victory and make it 12 Championship matches unbeaten.

Millwall manager Harris said: “There was special technique to do it in those conditions and it was also great timing because Barnsley were just getting a foothold in the game.

“They weren’t dominating but they were better than us for a 10 minute period. It had been a scrappy start to the second half.

“But without the ball Ben has also been very good, in terms of our defensive organisation. He got it straight away. We didn’t have the luxury of working with him pre-season to get it right. He had to work hard and watch some videos.

‘His work ethic to improve has been really good. He has added quality to the group. His record in terms of points per game in a Millwall shirt is excellent at the moment.”
