Charlton boss Lee Bowyer reveals how many more points he wants to secure Championship safety
Lee Bowyer reckons that Charlton need five more points to make sure they are safe from the Championship drop.
The Addicks are unbeaten since football came out of lockdown and face Millwall at The Valley tonight.
“I’d say we’re probably going to need 50 or 51 points,” said Bowyer, pictured below.
“That’s what I’m aiming for.
“Once we came back I had broken it down – if we could get four points from the first three games, four points from the next three games and then four points from the last three. That would give us 52 points and that would be enough.
“We’re on seven points at the moment and I’d like to get another five. Fifty might be enough but 51 should do it.
“I still think it [the Milwall game] will be a fiery occasion, even though the fans aren’t there. The players know it is a local derby and don’t want to lose.
“They are playing to try and get in the play-offs and we’re playing to stay in the division. Both sides will give it everything. It’s going to be a tough, physical game.
“It’s going to be tight. I think it will be a close match.”
