“It drives me crazy” – Lee Bowyer gives verdict as Charlton make it 13 home games without a clean sheet

Lee Bowyer chose to praise his Charlton Athletic side for battling back in today’s 1-1 draw with Shrewsbury Town – rather than focusing on Sean Goss’ goal.

Conor Washington’s 10th goal of the season secured a point for the Addicks.

Goss was left unmarked to plant a diving header beyond Ben Amos early in the second half.

It is now 13 home matches without Charlton keeping a clean sheet.

Bowyer said: “Both boxes – that is where games are won and lost. If you switch off or don’t take your chances…in my eyes we should’ve been two up before they scored.

“Ben didn’t really touch the ball and then he’s picking it out of the net.

“It’s disappointing, it drives me crazy. But you are going to make mistakes at times and people are going to make mistakes. That’s why we score goals. If they didn’t every game would be 0-0.

“The most important thing is we kept going and we got the point we at least deserved.”

  • Thirteen games without a clean sheet? Oxford 0 Charlton 0 three games ago and a clean sheet the game before that.
